22 Injured in NY Bus Crash

USA TODAY – July 4, 2012

Twenty-two people were injured when a tour bus crashed on Wednesday near New Rochelle, New York, according to police.

The bus was traveling on Interstate 95, returning from the Foxwoods casino in Connecticut at about 6:30 a.m., when it hit a guardrail and a concrete barrier after crossing three lanes of traffic.

Witnesses say the bus continued to coast forward after hitting the concrete wall, and a state trooper had to park his vehicle in front of the bus before it finally stopped moving.

According to police reports, 22 people were injured and transported to area hospitals for treatment.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
