2013 Ford Escape Recalled Over Fuel Line Fires
USA TODAY – July 20, 2012
Ford Motor Co. issued a second recall this week of the companys 2013 Escape SUV due to defective fuel lines that may result in vehicle fires.
The recall, which applies only to Escapes containing the 1.6-liter engine, was announced after three reports in which the fuel line split and leaked gasoline, causing the vehicle to catch fire.
Two of the reported incidents took place at a Ford factory in Louisville, Kentucky, and the third occurred in an Escape purchased by a Canadian customer.
Owners of vehicles affected by the recall are encouraged to contact their Ford dealer immediately to schedule repairs.
This latest recall was issued only days after the car manufacturer announced a recall to repair a carpeting issue on the 2013 Escape, which may cause drivers to compress the brake unintentionally.
